South German / Alpine “Flachschnitz” Coffer, Early 16^th Century

The rather small and very charming chest with a front carved in so called “Flachschnitz” design, featuring an embracing couple and two men engaged in a sword fight among stylized vines, the sides and framed top plain, overall showing the warm and rich patina of centuries old pine.
