A Rare most likely Swiss or North Italian Alpine Coffer or so called “Stollen Truhe” in remarkable well preserved condition and with a very decorative appeal. The front legs or “Stollen” embellished with primitive geometric chip-carved designs, flanking a middle section with applied and iron-studded early Gothic decoration. Plain sides and back, the lid appears to retain its original wrought iron strap hinges and hasp. The interior shows remains of later added compartments, the legs have probably been cut down.
