An Important Pair of English George II Brass–Inlaid Mahogany Back-to-Back Desks, ca. 1740

Each bow-breakfronted leather-lined top fitted with a book stand on ratchet support, one top additionally with a compartment for pen and ink, within cross-banded and feather banded veneered borders; the three frieze drawers inlaid with feather bandings above an arched kneehole flanked on either side by a secret spring-release door opening to a short drawer, above a cupboard door similarly inlaid, the whole raised on scrolled feet.
